Bumper Stickers

These bumper stickers were originally published by Michigan Advocates Exchange in support of its mission,

"Recognizing the beauty, value and potential of every person, we pledge to serve people living with HIV/AIDS, their families and friends, in a way that allows them to seek wholeness, health, dignity, peace, growth and fulfillment."

and vision,

"We envision a time when a person living with HIV/AIDS does not need an advocate to help them get the services they need. We envision a cure, a vaccine, and no discrimination against people living with HIV/AIDS."

Nobody said, however, that taking yourself too seriously is required.

Bumper stickers with attitude became an irreverent part of MAX's strategies to end stigma by putting HIV in front of people who wouldn't otherwise think about it. Nothing like a bumper to get a message in front of people! (In fact, Kendra's dreamed up a license plate frame, available through the Positive Outlook store, that says "My HIV status is not your business. Know your own." Check it out - click the Positive Outlook button below to go shopping!)

Print these out on the bumper sticker paper you can buy at your local office supply store, or print them on plain copy paper and tape them in a window. Speak up! (These are all Adobe-readable PDF files.)

  • Got HIV? Similar to the "got milk?" advertisements.

  •

  • B*tch for Justice. This is who we are, what we do, and why we do it. Now you can, too.

  •

  • PWA. Person with Attorney. Show your solidarity with people living with AIDS. (People living with HIV or AIDS used to be referred to as "PWAs.")

  •

  • HIV prevention is the only vaccine. A blinding glimpse of what is, sadly, still the truth.

  •

  • My friend died of AIDS and I'm furious! Modeled after the MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) bumper stickers. Pretty much says it all.

  •

  • Speak your mind even if your voice shakes   Encourage opinions!
